Diabolical Demonist

9th December 2019 — 1

Well, this is a failed bit of writing. It was meant to be a drabble – i.e. 100 words. I blew straight through that with little hope of editing it back into line and to be quite honest I was having too much fun with it. Another failed experiment, but who says you can’t have a bit of fun on the way.

With a wave of her bloody wand, the darkness contorted and from its depths, something abhorrent stepped forth.

“Who summons Belial?” the demon roared.

“Belial?”

“Yes, Belial,” the demon acknowledged.

“Ah!”

“Ah?” Belial mocked.

“Indeed. How do I put this? You’re not quite …”

His eyes glowed with the fires of hell. “Why did you summon me then?”

“I’m sorry, it’s not exactly a science,” she said, waving her wand limply.

“Oh,” he said, deflated. The fire dimmed in his eyes.

“I’m sorry,” she said, flashing him an apologetic smile. She gestured for him to vacate the pentagram. “The thing is, I’m actually in a bit of a hurry.”

He turned around forlorn, went to leave and realised there was no room. Six of his brothers stood staring at him from the shadows, they didn’t look happy either.

“Scoot, scoot,” she said, hurrying him along.

Reluctantly, he squeezed in with his brethren. “How long has she been doing this?”

“Two hours now,” Azus said.

“She better get it right soon, we’re running out of room,” Pytho added.

There was a murmur of dissent from the legion.

“Shhh, do you mind, I need to concentrate,” she hissed. The demons did as she commanded. Belial raised a finger, his brothers advised against his intervention.

With another wave of her bloody wand, the darkness contorted and from its depths, something else abhorrent stepped forth.

“Who summons Astaroth?” the demon roared.

“Damn it!” she cried.

The legion groaned.

At least the deadly dearth of demons is at an end!
