Well, this is a bit of fun. Peter Wyn Mosey has nominated Mused Blog for the 2019 Liebster Award. If you haven’t checked out his blog you are missing out on a real treat, he’s an immensely talented writer. If you’re quick enough you can participate in his 30 day writing challenge by setting him an interesting writing challenge.
I had seen a few blogs on my travels that had been nominated for the Liebster Award but I’d never really taken in what it was, until today. Essentially it’s an award given by bloggers to recognise other bloggers they enjoy with less than 200 followers. It’s a good opportunity to network with the wider blogging community. Somewhat like the viral challenges that go around social media, but with a more useful purpose. Or the writer uplifts in the #writingcommunity on Twitter.
The rules are fairly simple, once nominated, answer the 5 questions set by the person who nominated you in a post (link back to them). Set five new questions and nominate some bloggers that you enjoy with less than 200 followers.
What is mused.blog about?
My motivation for setting up mused.blog was simply to have a dumping ground for various articles. Of late I’ve found a passion for writing fiction and have been posting the majority of my efforts on the blog. They say it takes 10’000 hours to master anything, Six months in I’ve probably clocked up the first 400 hours, a little ways to go yet. In the meantime expect a stream of imperfect flash fiction pieces, until I get it right.
Peter’s FIVE Questions
My answers to Peter’s five tricky questions:
If you could have one celebrity, one politician, and one fictional character around for brunch, who would you pick?
The celebrity is fairly easy, I’ve got a lot of time for Stephen Fry, love his public debates and just recently finished the Mythos audiobook. Politician, if you can categorise him as such, Donald Trump, bare with me! Fictional character – Gaius Helen Mohiam, the imperial Truthsayer of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. With Mohiam’s skill for spotting lies, Fry’s whit and Trump’s flexibility with the truth, well it would make for an enlightening brunch for sure.
There are no sunsets to science, but in your opinion, what has been the best things that science has brought mankind?
Simply, the scientific method itself. The cornerstone of innovation, to constantly question everything, to quote Edwin Hubble:
Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.
The human race is pretty much doomed. In the final seconds of humanity; what will be the last words spoken? and, who will say them?
Probably something like this:
MAN: “It’s alright I’ve got it, ouch!”
WOMAN: “I told you so!”
Please explain why I should believe your favourite “conspiracy theory”?
It’s not really a conspiracy theory more a very real FACT! Specifically “the decline in pirates has led to global warming“. Now, before you start your naysaying, go and educate yourself by checking out the compelling evidence. I think you’ll agree it’s pretty strong, or at least as strong as the evidence for most conspiracy theories. We need more pirates people, act today!
You have the option of solving one problem in the world right now, what would it be?
Where do you start? Global warming? Plastic? Cancer? Politics? Corporations? The size of Wagon Wheels? The list is endless. I think the most useful thing right now would be an accurate indication of the quality of information. Just a little icon on every quote, every tweet, every news post. Just pop it in the corner of every factual TV program.
All it does is provide an empirical measure of the accuracy of something. e,g, bob from Stratford’s last brain fart about the “immigrants” = red vs the Institute of Economic development latest report = green. We could all then filter out the nonsense and the BBC could stop its terrible attempts at “balanced” reporting.
Imagine the boost all the real problems would get when we can filter out the noise of all the low-quality unqualified biased-opinions and agendas. It would, of course, mean the end of so much cheap reality TV programming and you know, I’m alright with that.
My FIVE Questions
Oh no, It’s another global apocalypse. only one book, one movie and one song will survive into the brave new world. Which do you pick?
Battle Royale: A T-Rex, three tigers, one hundred rats which would win? Show your working out
The Gods have chosen to remove one of your senses, in exchange, they’ll make one of your remaining senses a super-sense. Which one do you lose and which one do you improve?
You have died, bad luck! Luckily you’ve been offered the choice of being REborn at a time and location of your choosing with ALL your current knowledge intact. Where and when do you choose?
What’s the best and worst thing about blogging?
My Nominations
I’ve nominated three blogs that I really enjoy following and definitely deserve some recognition:
- Debbie Jones – Gloras Mud – Debbie has created a beautiful blog of photography and touching/thought-provoking poetry. Well worth a read/follow.
- Joshua G J Insole – Joshua is a hugely talented horror/sci-fi writer and he’s written some of the best stories I’ve read over the last few months. My only tip would be to keep the lights on when reading.
- Kaytie Beth – The Passion Pursuit – Kaytie started her new blog in August, and it’s an entertaining mishmash of hobbies and varied fun activities. Always brings a smile to my face.
