Zero Hour 2113

30th September 2020 — 2

I can finally reveal the super-secret hush-hush collaboration project I’ve been working on for the last few months. Zero Hour 2113 is a cyberpunk story set in the beating heart of London in the year 2113 and features thirteen chapters from a hugely talented group of writers.

This is my first experience working on a collaborative writing project and I had an absolute blast. There can be very little more rewarding than bouncing ideas off of like-minded people and seeing those ideas take on a life of their own and intermesh into other writer’s storylines. It’s the closest I’m likely to get to a shared dream outside of partaking in some powerful hallucinogenic.

Collaborative world-building is definitely a trip, and this journey started with David Green pitching the concept to the fantastic team over at Black Hare Press. No strangers, to spotting a good tale, they green-lit the project, and in proper Avengers-style, David pulled a group of great writers together and I was lucky enough to find myself invited. After hearing the pitch I was sold. Four months later, after some long nights and longer editing sessions Zero Hour 2113 got delivered to Black Hare Press on time. It’s no mean feat to herd a bunch of writers into delivering anything, let alone your vision but David found that balance of whip and carrot while preserving the camaraderie of the group.

The proof as they say is in the pudding and I’m hugely proud of the world we’ve created. There will be a whole bunch of promotional events ahead of its launch in January 2021, which I’ll be posting. But in the meantime, if you love cyberpunk or simply want to see a unique vision of futuristic London why not pre-order a copy today.

Thanks, Chris. I’m definitely excited about this one. I’ve been lucky enough to make it into quite a few anthologies now but this is the first with a shared world, characters and story elements.
